TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The sixth of 17 meetings and the third of eight in Richmond. ‘Dogs are 1-1 vs. the Jackals at the Coliseum. This is the third meeting in eight days between the two clubs. The ‘Dogs are 2-3 against the Jackals, 1-1 here. Richmond is fourth in the Eastern Division, five points behind the third place Jackals. The ‘Dogs have at least two games in hand on the rest of the East.

LAST ACTION: Richmond lost 9-2 to Elmira last night at First Arena. The Jackals blew the game open with four second period goals, three on power plays. Corey Foster, Jason Sessa, Eddy Lowe, and Greg Koehler scored two goals each. Sessa and Koehler had five point nights. The Jackals went 5-10 on the power play. J.J Wrobel and Kyle Sheen scored for Richmond. The ‘Dogs had leads of 1-0 and 2-1. Elmira out-shot Richmond by 16.

'DOG BITES: Richmond is playing their third game in three nights and fourth in five nights in four cities. The nine goals allowed last night is a club record. Richmond has lost three straight for the first time this season. Kyle Sheen's goal last night was his first as a pro. Derek Schutz comes off the 7-Day IR today. The ‘Dogs were unbeaten in the first seven games in which they scored the first goal. The ‘Dogs have lost the last two games in which they've scored first. Tonight is the seventh in a stretch of nine straight games vs. Eastern Division opponents.

JACKALS NOTES: The Jackals snapped a three game loosing streak last night. Elmira finished a three game homestand last night. They are in a stretch of seven out of eight games at home. Darren Van Oene earned a call-up to Providence of the AHL yesterday. Greg Koehler leads the UHL in points and goals. Jason Sessa leads the league in power play goals and shots. Greg Hewitt leads the league in minutes played and saves. The Jackals have 11 power play goals in their three wins vs. Richmond. The Jackals return home to face Kalamazoo Friday.

NEXT UP: Richmond hosts Danbury Friday at 7:35. It is our second annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed toys to toss on the ice. The ‘Dogs will collect the toys to donate to children around Central Virginia.
