March 6, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release
A well-balanced attack led the Missouri River Otters to a 5-2 victory against the Port Huron Beacons Sunday afternoon at McMorran Place Arena.
The Beacons struck first in the open period when Gabriel Proulx sent a one-timer between Jason Tapp's pads. The River Otters came back with a vengeance, however, scoring the next four goals. The first came on a terrific wrist-shot from Frank Littlejohn, the second came on a rebound shot by Riku Varjamo, the third came on a booming Ryan Johnson slap-shot, and the fourth came on a sneaky deflection by Glenn Detulleo.
Port Huron got a goal in the second period from David Beauregard. The speedy winger beat Tapp on a partial breakaway five minutes into the middle period for his 38th goal of the season. The River Otters answered when Jim Montgomery picked up a loose puck in the slot and fired it behind Stu Dunn for his 20th goal of the season.
Neither team scored in the final period, and the River Otters skated off with the 5-2 victory. Tapp made 20 saves for the victory, while Dunn suffered the loss.
The River Otters will host the Beacons Sunday, March 13 at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 1:05 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the River Otters B2 Webcast, which can be found at the River Otters website!
