WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (55-23) ended their four-game losing streak on Saturday, beating the Portland Beavers (44-46) by a score of 12-8 at Raley Field. Sacramento set season-highs with three triples (matching club record), four home runs and nine extra-base hits in the game.
Sacramento's third (DH Graham Koonce), fourth (1B Dan Johnson) and fifth (RF Matt Watson) batters in the order went a combined 10-for-14 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. Johnson led the club with 4 H, while Watson had a team-high 4 RBI. The River Cats led 12-2 after seven innings, before the Beavers scored 6 R in the final two innings.
LHP John Rheinecker (9-4) earned his eighth consecutive win, allowing 4 R (3 ER) on 11 H in 7.2 IP. RHP Dennis Tankersley (4-3) took the loss for Portland. The win marked Sacramento's seventh straight Saturday win, after losing its first six Saturday games of the season.
Sacramento and Portland will play the final game of their four-game series on Sunday (5:05 pm) at Raley Field.
