Kevin Witt hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning off Clint Sodowsky (7-3) as the Albuquerque Isotopes dropped the finale of the four-game series with Memphis 4-2. The Isotopes still took three of four in the series and are now off till Thursday for the Triple-A All-Star Break.
Memphis scored first with a run on two hits off Albuquerque starter Scott Sanders. The Isotopes tied it up in the third on a Larry Sutton sacrifice fly, scoring Sanders. Mike Mahoney then hit a solo homer off Sanders in the fifth that Sutton matched in the sixth to tie the score at two.
With one out in the eighth, John Gall walked before Witt launched his game-winning homer. Chris Aguila added three hits in the loss. The Isotopes return to action Thursday with a four-game series in Oklahoma before returning home on Monday, July 19 for the beginning of an eight-game homestand against New Orleans and Omaha.
