River Cats, Trappers To Open Season In Arizona

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats and Edmonton Trappers announced today that they will open the 2004 season April 8-11 with a four-game series in Yuma, Ariz. The opening series, originally scheduled to be played in Edmonton, was moved primarily to eliminate weather concerns.
The River Cats and Trappers will play at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, a 6,000-seat ballpark which has played host to major league Spring Training games and independent league baseball. The Trappers will be the home team for the games, and tickets will be available through Caballeros de Yuma at 928-343-1715.
"Considering the April weather in Canada, relocating the opening series to Yuma to ensure the games will be played makes sense," said River Cats Senior Vice President & General Manager Gary Arthur. "Yuma is a good baseball town, and it has a nice facility with an exceptional playing surface."
