The Simpson's episode in which the name Isotopes was formed was ranked 25th in Top 100 Sports Moments in the history of "The Simpsons." The Top 100 was featured in a Page 3 story, written by Greg Collins on ESPN.com.
In the famous episode, "Hungry Hungry Homer", Homer calls attention to a cover-up of a plan to move the Springfield Isotopes to Albuquerque by starting a hunger strike. He uncovers the plan and saves the team from moving.
In 2003, the Calgary Cannons moved to Albuquerque and became the Isotopes after a fan vote.
