Sacramento River Cats News Release
RENO, Nev. - After scoring just six total runs in the first two games of the series, the Cats scored nine times in the first four innings Wednesday en route to a 9-7 win over the Reno Aces at Aces Ballpark..
After falling behind 3-1 after the first inning, Sacramento exploded for three runs in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth, taking a 9-3 lead they would not relinquish. Scott Moore hit his eighth home run of the season-a solo shot to lead off the fourth-and finished with three RBIs, leading a balanced offensive attack for the River Cats, who improved to 7-4 on their current season-long 12-game road trip.
The River Cats have won two-of-three from Reno so far in this four-game set, despite being out-hit by the Aces over the three games, 32-22. Sacramento has taken six-of-seven from Reno at Aces Ballpark this season.
Andrew Werner (6-8) earned the victory, giving up four runs-two earned-in five innings. Wednesday's performance was his eighth-straight outing allowing three runs or fewer. After a trio of relievers tossed three innings of relief, Dan Otero came on in the ninth to earn his 15th save in as many chances.
The loss fell to Aces starter Michael Bolsinger (1-1), who allowed five earned runs without getting out of the third inning.
In addition to Moore's big night at the plate, Shane Peterson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Daric Barton chipped in with a sacrifice fly, two walks and two runs scored.
The River Cats' road trip comes to a close Thursday at Aces Ballpark, when RHP Bruce Billings (8-2, 3.98 ERA) takes the ball against Reno RHP Randall Delgado (1-5, 6.44 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PT.
The River Cats return home Friday, June 14, for a four-game set against Tacoma, featuring a pair of fireworks shows, Star Wars Night, and the annual Father's Day Baseball and BBQ event at Raley Field, set for Sunday, June 16.
