WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (44-27) lost 3-2 to the Tacoma Rainiers (38-29) on Sunday at Raley Field. The loss marked the River Cats' second in their last 10 games.
RHP Steve Woodard (6-4) took the loss, allowing 3 ER on 7 H in 6.0 IP. LHP Matt Thornton (6-4) earned the win for Tacoma, while LHP George Sherrill picked up his seventh save.
RF Matt Watson led the River Cats' offense, going 3-for-4 in the game. 2B Adam Morrissey had 2 H.
The River Cats and Rainiers will complete their four-game series on Monday (7:05 pm) at Raley Field.
