
Sidewinders win with help of D-backs on rehab

Greg Colbrunn broke up a 6-6 game in the top of the seventh with a 3-run homer helping Tucson defeat Salt Lake 11-8 Sunday afternoon. Colbrunn collected three of the Sidewinders 16 hits one game after the Sidewinders rallied for six runs in the ninth and three in the tenth Saturday beating the Stingers 9-6.
Colbrunn was playing his third game on a rehab assignment with Tucson and finished 3-4 with a single, double, home run and five RBI's. Roberto Alomar completed his two-day rehab assignment with the Sidewinders going 1-2 with a single, walk and two runs scored.
Salt Lake scored first in the bottom of the first against Mike Gosling. The Sidewinders responded with four runs in top of the third inning for a 4-1 lead.
Tucson led 6-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Stingers chased Gosling and scored three runs to tie the game.
Yoshi Mizuo started on the mound in the top of the seventh inning but failed to get an out facing six batters. After Colbrunn's 3-run homer, Noochie Varner singled, Julio Ramirez doubled and Kyle Nichols doubled in both runners for an 11-6 lead.
Former Sidewinder Brian Gordon closed the deficit to 11-8 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh off Jon Cannon who earned the win in relief for Tucson. Shane Nance threw the ninth for his second save of the year.
Tucson improved to 38-32 and moved 5 1/2 games back of Sacramento in the PCL South Division. The Sidewinders will finish off the four-game series and eight-game road trip Monday night with a 6:00 p.m. start at Franklin-Covey Field. Casey Daigle (0-3 7.00) will start for Tucson against the Stingers Steve Green (4-6 7.67). The game will be broadcast live on Cool 1450 AM.
