River Cats drop series finale, but win series in El Paso

EL PASO, TX - The Sacramento River Cats (28-30) fell to the El Paso Chihuahuas (28-30) by the final score of 5-0 in the series finale on Sunday evening, but head home taking three of five in El Paso.

Right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly got out of the first inning unscathed, but surrendered two runs in the second inning and three in the third to fall behind 5-0. Kelly finished allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits in six innings, while striking out three.

Sacramento's offense was held in check by Chihuahuas' lefty Dillon Overton, who allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings. The River Cats' hottest hitter, Austin Slater, recorded one of their four hits on the night and finished with six in the series. Slater also stole both second and third base in the seventh inning and now has eight stolen bases this season.

The River Cats have an off day tomorrow and will return home for a seven-game home stand against the Oklahoma City Dodgers and Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Left-handed pitcher Daniel Camarena (0-0, 0.75) gets the start on Tuesday night against Oklahoma City and will face off with righty Guillermo Moscoso (2-3, 4.02). Additional Notes

- Leadoff hitter Eury Perez recorded two of the River Cats' four hits, and is hitting .344 against left-handed pitching this season.

- Despite the loss, the River Cats only struck out four times as a team, tying their fewest in a game this season which was set on May 29 against against Albuquerque.
