The Sacramento River Cats (72-45) beat the Tacoma Rainiers (49-68) 12-5 on Monday at Raley Field. RHP Justin Duchscherer (11-2) earned the win, allowing 4 ER on 7 H in 6.0 IP. RHP Chris Wright (0-4) took the loss for Tacoma. The Cats broke a 2-2 tie with a six-run second inning, which included home runs by 1B Graham Koonce (3 RBI) and LF Mike Edwards (1 RBI). 2B Esteban German and CF Chris Prieto each recorded 3 H in the game.
With the win, Duchscherer tied the River Cats' record for wins in a season. The only other pitcher to win 11 games in a single season was RHP Larry Luebbers (2002). At 72-45, Sacramento is now a season-best 27 games above .500. The Cats lead second-place Las Vegas by seven-and-a-half games, as the 51s' game in New Orleans was postponed.
