WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats announced today their schedule for the 2005 season, in which they will attempt to become just the third team in the 102-year history of the Pacific Coast League to win three consecutive championships. During the upcoming season, Sacramento will host 72 regular-season home games and the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game at Raley Field.

Season and group tickets for the upcoming season will be available to fans beginning on Wednesday (Oct. 20) by calling 916-371-HITS. Fans interested in being placed on the priority seating list for Fun Packs (partial season tickets) can do so immediately by calling 916-371-HITS. Season ticket and Fun Pack holders will be guaranteed the opportunity to obtain tickets to the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game (July 13) at Raley Field before a limited amount of tickets are made available to the public.

"The upcoming season is going to be very special for both the River Cats and our fans," said River Cats President & Chief Operating Officer Alan Ledford. "The support the Sacramento region has shown the River Cats during our first five seasons has been unparalleled in Minor League Baseball. In addition to playing for our third consecutive PCL Championship, we also have the opportunity to bring the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game to our fans."

A significant change to the River Cats' schedule next season will be the addition of numerous day games during the week, in the form of either Triple-A School Days (11:35 a.m.) or Business Person Specials (12:15 p.m.). The River Cats will host four Triple-A School Days, affording students from the Sacramento region the opportunity to take a field trip to Raley Field to watch a baseball game and attend a motivational assembly with River Cats players and coaches. New this season, the team will host four Business Person Specials, encouraging fans to spend the second-half of their workday at the ballpark with co-workers and clients.

"We do a lot of research in the form of focus groups and surveys. One of the things we have learned is that our fans love attending day games during the week," Ledford said. "These day games give teachers an alternative to the traditional field trips, and they give business people a different outlet to entertain clients and build relationships within their organizations."

Among the 72 home games the River Cats will host in 2005, almost half (35) will be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The club will also play at home on Memorial Day (May 30) and Father's Day (June 19) and will host its annual Independence Day Celebration with fireworks on July 3 against the Salt Lake Stingers.

The River Cats will begin their 2005 season on April 7 when they host the Portland Beavers at Raley Field. A rematch of the PCL's Pacific Conference Championship Series from last season, it will mark the first of four series against the Beavers. Sacramento will travel to Iowa from May 23-26 for its only series against the Iowa Cubs, who the River Cats swept in last season's finals en route to winning the PCL Championship.

Because of the Edmonton Trappers relocating to Texas to become the Round Rock Express, the PCL has realigned its divisions for the upcoming season. The PCL South will remain intact with the River Cats, Fresno Grizzlies, Las Vegas 51s and Tucson Sidewinders. The following is the new division structure in the PCL:

Pacific Conf. (South) Pacific Conf. (North) American Conf. (North) American Conf. (South)

Sacramento River Cats Colorado Springs Sky Sox Iowa Cubs Albuquerque Isotopes

Fresno Grizzlies Portland Beavers Memphis Redbirds New Orleans Zephyrs

Las Vegas 51s Salt Lake Stingers Nashville Sounds Oklahoma RedHawks

Tucson Sidewinders Tacoma Rainiers Omaha Royals Round Rock Express
