PHOENIX, Arizona - Phoenix Rising FC will open its 2022 season at Wild Horse Pass against USL Championship expansion side, Monterey Bay FC on Saturday, March 12, the league announced today.

"Having a season's worth of experience in our new venue, we're very excited to build on the momentum created at Wild Horse Pass in 2021," said Rising GM Bobby Dulle. "We cannot wait for new opponents to experience the best fans and environment in the league."

The full 2022 USL Championship schedule will be announced next Wednesday, Jan. 12, with the 459-game regular season set to conclude on the weekend of October 14-16 ahead of the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs.

The club won the Pacific Division by 15 points in 2021, finishing the season with a record of 20-5-7. Phoenix ended the season with more goals scored (68) than any other pro club in North America and broke the franchise record for attendance with 117,762 fans visiting Wild Horse Pass. The previous high was 114,789, recorded at Casino Arizona Field in 2019.

Rising's opener on March 12, will be the first of 12 home-and-away dates against Western Conference opponents in 2022. In Monterey Bay, Rising will face former head coach Frank Yallop, who now serves as the sporting director and head coach for the expansion side.

Rising currently has 18 players under contract for the 2022 season. Returning players include Joey Calistri, Lalo Delgado, Niall Dunn, Joe Farrell, Ryan Flood, Ivan Gutierrez, Darnell King, Jonathan Levin, Manuel Madrid, Santi Moar, James Musa, Aodhan Quinn, Arturo Rodriguez and Luis Seijas.

The club has added left back Baboucar Njie, winger Marcus Epps, midfielder Carlos Aguiano and forward Richmond Antwi so far this offseason.
