Rowdies Set to Face Indy in 2022 Home Opener

ST PETERSBURG, FL - The Tampa Bay Rowdies home opener for the 2022 USL Championship has been set, with the league announcing its full slate of home fixtures for all teams on Thursday. The Rowdies are one of the USL Championship clubs who will kick off the season on the road when they travel to face Briminghma Legion FC at the club's new home Protective Field on Sunday, March 13. They then return home to Al Lang Stadium on Saturday, March 19 to face Eastern Conference foe Indy Eleven for the first of 17 regular-season home matches.
Tampa Bay's home date against Indy marks the first time the two sides have faced off since 2019. With the USL Championship returning to its traditional two-conference format this year, the Rowdies are set to face each of the 13 other Eastern Conference teams twice, once at home and once away. To round out the rest of the 34-match regular-season schedule, the Rowdies will face eight teams from the league's Western Conference - four at home and four away.
The USL Championship will unveil the full regular season schedule for all teams on Wednesday, January 12. This year's regular-season will conclude on the weekend of October 14-16, making way for the USL Championship playoffs. Seven teams from each conference will qualify for this year's playoffs, with the top seed from each conference receiving an automatic bye into the second round.
The Rowdies enter the season seeking to defend their back-toback Eastern Conference championship, last year's regular season crown, and also capture their first USL Championship title.
