EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC announced today its 2022 USL Championship home opener. The Toros' seventh season is set to kick off on Saturday, March 12 when the club welcomes Oakland Roots SC to H-E-B Park to kick off the new campaign.
The Toros will kick of their seventh season in the USL Championship against first time rival Oakland Roots. The new season will also bring back the two-conference (East and West) competition format where RGV will stay in the Western Conference and will be joined by Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, El Paso Locomotive FC, LA Galaxy II, Las Vegas Lights FC, Monterey Bay F.C., New Mexico United, Oakland Roots SC, Orange County SC, Phoenix Rising FC, Sacramento Republic FC, San Antonio FC and San Diego Loyal SC.
RGV returns to the 2022 season after a historic playoff run in 2021 where the team advanced to the semifinal round of playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Wilmer Cabrera returns as Head Coach and Sporting Director for the 2022 campaign.
