
Riptide Present the Ultimate Military Challenge On July 25

For the July 25 game against the Green Bay Blizzard, the San Diego Riptide will be hosting their Inaugural Ultimate Military Challenge which will pit the United States Armed Forces against each other in a friendly battle for military supremacy in a ten-event contest that epitomizes teamwork, unity, strength, accuracy and appearance.
The purpose of this event is two fold â first, to build a recruiting event that promotes military awareness and pride; and second, to further the recruiting effort of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
Events begin at 4pm in the Sports Arena parking lot and finals will be at halftime of the Riptide-Blizzard game when the UMC Champion is crowned.
The ten events are:
Push-ups (timed)
Pull-ups
Bench Press (225 pounds)
Show Off Your Guns
Rock Wall Climb (timed)
40-yard Dash (timed)
Football Accuracy Throw
Tug-of-War
Branch With Largest Attendance
Best Military Presence
Rules and Regulations
Each branch may have at most ten (10) teams. Each team may have up to eight (8) members, which includes one (1) assigned team captain. Only one (1) contestant from each team shall perform in each event, excluding Tug of War. The team captain shall decide which team member shall be entered into each event. As long as every member from each team participates in at least one (1) event, the captain may choose a team member to participate in multiple events (maximum of three (3) events, excluding the tug-of-war). For those active military personnel interested in participating, please contact your Public Affairs office.
The Ultimate Military Challenge Champion receives:
1. Branch honor and respect from other branches and teams
2. Military bragging rights
3. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team with the name of the base, branch, year and names of team members
4. San Diego Riptide Cheerleader pictures, autographs and poster signings
5. Media coverage of team with special promotions and advertising
6. Halftime or post-game recognition
Tickets for this Friday's game against Hawaii and next week's contest versus Green Bay start at just $8 and can purchased at any TicketMaster location, by calling 619.220.TIXS, online at ticketmaster.com or through sandiegoriptide.com or at the Riptide offices by calling 866.RIPTIDE.
All active U.S. Military can purchase up to four Terrace-level tickets to all Riptide home games for $5 a piece. Military Appreciation tickets can ONLY be purchased at the San Diego Sports Arena with your Military identification.
The Riptide have announced a great group ticket package for their final two games of the 2003 season.
When you purchase 10 or more tickets for the July 18 game against the Hawaiian Islanders, you will receive the same amount of tickets to the July 25 season finale against the Green Bay Blizzard for FREE!
