San Diego Riptide News Release
Thank you for your continued support of the San Diego Riptide. As a season ticket holder, sponsor and fan, you are the heart and soul of this franchise.
Although the 2005 season didn't turn out as well as we would have liked on the field, we were all treated to some very exciting moments as well as incredible performances by future Arena Football and possibly, NFL stars.
After the 2005 season, our front office spent considerable time analyzing the first four seasons of San Diego Riptide football. After much soul-searching, we've concluded that we don't have the necessary time to properly organize ourselves and implement the strategies to ensure future success in 2006 and beyond. This involves all facets of the organization.
With the input and advice of the af2 league office, we will be devoting the coming months to reevaluating all aspects of our organization. Therefore, we will not be playing during the 2006 season. We fully intend to again play in 2007. This time off will allow us to properly develop a new strategic plan to become a more successful professional sports franchise.
Further, we believe that one of the most important facets of any professional sports team is their commitment to their community. To that point, over the years, we have had a number of successful community outreach programs. However, we believe we can do even better. In order to continue this important mission of giving back to the community, we intend to grow these programs while developing of new programs. This, we believe, is of paramount importance.
We are convinced that Arena football is a viable, exciting and fan-friendly product; one that has produced some very entertaining and memorable Saturday nights. Our intent is to continue to provide unparalleled access to a unique entertainment value known as professional arena football.
A major aspect of this rebuilding period will be securing local ownership of the Riptide. The majority of the successful ArenaFootball franchises have a mix of ownership models; specifically with local partners and businesses that benefit from what Arena Football offers.
We look forward to returning in the 2007 season with an even stronger Riptide organization. This includes a passionate front office, powerful coaching staff and championship-caliber team.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support. There will be periodic updates on our website, so please visit www.sandiegoriptide.com. We look forward to seeing you in 2007!
