
Rio Grande Valley Vipers Reacquire Gary Payton II and Waive Kentrell Barkley

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers, NBA G League Affiliate of the Houston Rockets, announced today that they have reacquired guard Gary Payton II and waived forward Kentrell Barkley.
Payton II (6-3, 195) previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers and South Bay Lakers in the 2017-18 season as a two-way player. With the LA Lakers, Payton II played 11 games averaging 3.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1 assist. In South Bay, Payton II played a total of 17 games where he averaged 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Payton II also played with the Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Herd as a two-way player in the 2017-18 season. With the Bucks, Payton II started in six out of 12 games averaging 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds. Payton II started in all three games with the Herd averaging 18.3 points, 7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Prior to being called up to Milwaukee, Payton II played for the Vipers in 2016-17. With RGV, Payton II started in all 49 games averaging 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2 steals per game. Payton II also made 73 3-pointers with the Vipers.
