Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station (June 2, 2015) - The Brazos Valley Bombers resume their winning ways at Cellucor Field by kicking off their quest for a third consecutive TCL Championship with a 7-3 win over the East Texas PumpJacks.

The PumpJacks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but the Bombers did not give in. After tying the game at 3-3 in the 6th inning, the back-to-back TCL Champions pushed across four runs in the 7th inning to storm ahead and put the PumpJacks away for good.

Relief pitcher C.J. Gregory came in and provided a spark out of the bullpen for the Bombers with 3 innings pitched, no hits allowed, 3 strikeouts, and one walk. On the offensive side, shortstop Louis Boyd provided the big hit that put the Bombers ahead in the 7th inning, blasting an RBI double off the leftfield wall. Boyd finished the game 1-3 with 2 walks and the previously mentioned RBI.

The Bombers are about more than just championship baseball, however. The Bombers strive to provide nine innings of entertainment and opening night was a prime example of that. Before the game, Kaboom made a grand entrance to the ballpark, flying in on a helicopter to deliver championship rings to the 2014 Bombers baseball team, who won the 2014 TCL Championship.

A magnificent ring ceremony, coupled with a fantastic pre-game art show, and recognition of some of Bryan-College Station's finest local talents set the tone for what the Bombers expect will be another tremendous year of affordable family fun and entertainment.

The Bombers and PumpJacks will square off in the series finale tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at Cellucor Field. Promotions for the June 3 game include: 90 cent hot dogs for Weenie Wednesday, courtesy of Citizen's State Bank and Teacher Appreciation Night, sponsored by Mathnasium and Brazos Valley Schools.
