Jacks Lose Pitcher's Duel 2-0

The Pump Jacks drooped the second game of their series with the Bombers on Wednesday night, and will head home to get ready for their first home game at Irwin Field on in Tyler on Thursday.

The East Texas Pump Jacks fell to the Brazos Valley Bombers 2-0 on Wednesday night, but showed flashes of potential throughout the narrow contest.

Enrique Perez made his Pump Jacks debut as the starting pitcher, and struck out three over four scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits and two walks, and escaped jams in both the second and third innings.

John Caskey made his Pump Jacks debut in relief to start out the top of the fifth inning, and promptly retired the home side in order. He pitched a near perfect two innings, striking out three and allowing no hits.

Brazos Valley scored all of its runs in the bottom of the seventh off of reliever Jimmy Johnson, who was also making his first appearance for East Texas. Johnson retired the first batter of the inning on strikes, but the Bombers strung together a single, a walk, and two consecutive singles to plate a pair of runs.

Although they failed to produce a run of their own, the Jacks were not completely shut down. The collected eight hits on the night, and received two-hit games from T.J. Friedl, Tristan Clarke, and Dilon Argo. In two games with East Texas, Friedl is now 4-9 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored.

The Jacks come home on Thursday for their inaugural game at Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark against the Acadiana Cane Cutters at 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m., and tickets are selling fast for the team's first-ever game in Tyler. East Texas will conclude their two-game set with Acadiana on Friday, and clash with Brazos Valley at home on Saturday and Sunday.
