Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Gabriel Rincones Jr. hit three home runs in two weekend games - one on Saturday before that game was suspended - and two more on Sunday as the BlueClaws took a pair from Hudson Valley, 12-10 and 6-1.
With the two wins on the day, the BlueClaws finished the week 5-1 at Hudson Valley and they have pulled to within two games of first place Brooklyn, who defeated Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon. The BlueClaws are 17-4 in their last 21 games (since July 21st).
Game One
Jersey Shore took the opener 12-10 in a game that began on Saturday and was finished Sunday. Gabriel Rincones Jr. hit two home runs in the win and the BlueClaws broke a 10-10 tie with two runs in the top of the ninth inning.
The BlueClaws fell behind 4-0 in the first inning but got three runs right back on a home run by Leandro Pineda in the top of the second, his ninth home run of the season.
After Hudson Valley got two more in the second, Gabriel Rincones Jr. homered in the third, the first of two home runs in the game for him. The game was suspended in the fourth with the BlueClaws trailing 6-4.
When it was resumed on Sunday afternoon, the BlueClaws immediately took the lead. Marcus Lee Sang hit a two run home run, his eighth, to tie the game before Rincones went deep again to give Jersey Shore a 7-6 lead.
Rincones Jr now has nine home runs with the BlueClaws this year after joining from Clearwater on June 13th.
Hudson Valley tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a run off Konnor Ash, but the BlueClaws re-took the lead with three runs in the seventh. Those runs included an RBI single from Caleb Ricketts plus a bases loaded walk by Rixon Wingrove and an Otto Kemp SAC fly.
Jordi Martinez pitched the seventh and loaded the bases with nobody out before getting a strikeout, flyout, and another strikeout to keep the Renegades off the board. Christopher Familia hit a three-run home run to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth before the BlueClaws took the lead for good.
Otto Kemp's RBI single gave the BlueClaws the lead and they added a run on an RBI double from Leandro Pineda.
Rodolfo Sanchez (2-2) got the last five outs to earn the win.
Rincones Jr. finished with three hits and two home runs in the win. Marcus Lee Sang, Otto Kemp, and Leandro Pineda all had two hits for the BlueClaws.
Game Two
Jersey Shore won the second game 6-1.
The BlueClaws jumped out quickly in game two, taking a lead on a throwing error. They doubled the lead on an RBI triple to left field by Kendall Simmons, on which Gabriel Rincones Jr. came in to score.
Holding a 2-1 lead in the seventh (the last inning), Jersey Shore added four more. Marcus Lee Sang singled in a run and Rincones Jr. hit a three-run home run, his third in the last two days, second of the day, and 10th on the season.
Starter Rafael Marcano allowed just one run over 4.1 innings. Jack Dallas (4-1) came on and got the next five outs to earn the win. Jason Ruffcorn threw a scoreless seventh.
Lee Sang and Rincones Jr. both had two hits in the win for the BlueClaws.
The BlueClaws are off on Monday and open a six game series with Asheville (Astros) at ShoreTown Ballpark on Tuesday.
