Rincon Added to DL; Graterol Transferred

Springdale, AR - The Naturals will wait just a little bit longer before they can look to bolster their line up with a waiver claim awarded to the Kansas City Royals.

The Organization announced a pair of transactions in the last twenty-four hours affecting the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Roster before the team concludes it's four-game series with Tulsa. INF/OF Edinson Rincon has been claimed off waivers by Kansas City, optioned to Northwest Arkansas and then placed on the 7-Day Disabled List. Catcher Juan Graterol was also transferred to A-Wilmington.

Rincon was placed on release waivers by San Diego to make room for C Yasmani Grandal and the Royals were awarded the claim. Recently touted by Baseball America as having the best defensive arm in the San Diego Organization, Rincon is also no stranger the Texas League. Last year the 22 year-old from the Dominican Republic played 134 games for in his first year for AA-San Antonio and hit .291 with 10 homeruns and 48 RBI playing mostly Third Base and Left Field for the Missions. Rincon began his professional career as a sixteen year-old and over six minor league seasons has a slash line of .285/.355/.422 with 40 homeruns 249 RBI and 116 Doubles in 484 games.

Graterol has caught 19 games for the Naturals this season. The 24 year-old Venezuelan caught RHP Yordano Ventura in 8 of the fire-baller's 11 starts against the Texas League, including 7 of his last 8 games. His last game started behind the plate was also Ventura's last start for the Naturals. In 21 games, he went 12-for-63 (1.90) with a homerun and six RBI. The homerun was the go-ahead two-run homerun off Reuben Gotay in the 20-Inning Victory over Springfield last month.

The Naturals roster currently sits at 24 players, one under the Texas League limit of 25.
