
Right Wing Denny Johnston Rejoins Reign After Call-Up to Monarchs

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, announced today that right wing Denny Johnston has returned to the Reign from a call-up with the Manchester Monarchs.
Johnston, 26, re-joins the Reign roster after beginning his rookie season with the AHL Manchester Monarchs, where he signed a professional tryout agreement with the club on October 7. While with the Monarchs, Johnston registered one goal and one assist (2 points), and 32 penalty minutes in ten appearances with the club.
Prior to 2008-09, the 6-foot 3-inch, resident of Rosetown, SK, played three seasons at the University of New Brunswick where he registered 31 goals, assisted on 38 others (69 points) and tallied 171 penalty minutes in 134 games with the Varsity Reds. In 2006-07, Johnston was the recipient of a gold medal when UNB won the CIS National Championship against Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus, as the club brought home UNB's second-ever championship. Prior to playing for the University of New Brunswick, Johnston played six seasons in the WHL, splitting time between the Medicine Hat Tigers, Prince George Cougars and the Saskatoon Blades.
In addition, the Reign announced that Denny Johnston was placed on the 3-day IR, goaltender Jeff Zatkoff was transferred to the 7-day IR, and left wing Ryan MacGregor was transferred to the 30-day IR on January 19.
REIGN DROPS The Reign head to Bakersfield as they take on the Condors on Saturday, January 24 at Rabobank Arena at 7:30 p.m. They return to home ice at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Sunday, January 25, as they face-off again against the Condors at 7 p.m. as the Reign host "Affiliation Night". The teams will don jerseys inspired by their NHL affiliates, the Reign - Los Angeles Kings, the Condors - Anaheim Ducks, as the Reign hold a silent auction during the game where fans have a chance to win the "Jerseys Off Their Backs". Proceeds from the auction will benefit the San Antonio Community Hospital.
Sunday, January 25, is also Sunday Family Special day! Families can catch all the action between the Reign and the Bakersfield Condors at a special 5 p.m. start time!
