Riggers top pick finally comes to Calgary

Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - Kyle Wailes, the Calgary Roughnecks top pick (9th overall) in the 2006 National Lacrosse League entry draft, is finally coming to Calgary.
But he'll be wearing the red, black, white and grey jersey of Philadelphia, not a Riggers uniform, when the Wings take on the hometown squad Saturday night.
"Obviously we wish he was playing for us," Kurt Silcott, the Roughnecks General Manager, said today. "Unfortunately, his work commitment made it impossible for him to travel from New York to Alberta for practices or games and we had no option but to trade him to a team closer to his job."
Wailes, a 6 ft. 1 in. 205 lb, forward, is a financial analyst with Thomas Weisel Partners in the Big Apple.
In exchange for Wailes, the Roughnecks will get Philadelphia's 1st round pick in the 2007 draft.
"There's no doubt in my mind that Kyle would have gone higher in the draft if he had been willing to travel anywhere in the NLL," said Silcott. "He's a quality leftie who is going to score a bucket load of goals in this league.
"He would have fit in well with the team we are assembling here in Calgary. But circumstances change and now it will be our task to stop, not help, him."
Lindsay Anderson, the Wings head coach, said, "He (Wailes) has really helped our presence on the left side. His consistency so far is hopefully of great things to come."
Wailes is currently Philadelphia's 4th leading scorer with 14 points (7g, 7a). He's played in four of the Wings five games.
The Wings (3-2) sit in second place in the NLL's East Division.
They have lost to Edmonton (the Rush's only win this campaign) and Portland (2-4), and beaten San Jose (1-5), New York (1-5) and Toronto (2-3).
Calgary is 2nd in the West Division with a 4-1 record.
