
Rife's Bat, Yuma Gloves Lift Outlaws

Yuma, AZ - Jake Rife had five hits and Chico benefited from five Yuma errors en route to an 8-4 victory over the Scorpions at Desert Sun Stadium on Monday night.
Juan Camacho put Yuma up in the first with a two-run single to left off of Chico starter Jason Mackintosh. Chico scored an unearned run in the second off Yuma starter David Cross and then added two more in the second, on a two run blast off the bat of Bobby Hill.
Yuma would add single runs in the third and fourth to take a 4-3 lead, but Chico came back with runs in the fifth and sixth, and two in the seventh. Oscar Sigala drove in one with a ground out and Jake Rife tripled in two. Rife drove in another with a single in the ninth, as the Outlaws added an insurance run.
Mackintosh (1-0) picked up the win, scattering 12 hits over 6.2 innings. Alex Foltz was outstanding in relief, allowing only one hit over two shutout innings, with two strikeouts. Ryan Riddle came on to get the final out.
Cross went five innings and allowed four runs, two earned. Jacob Wiley (0-2) took the loss in relief, surrendering four hits and three runs (one earned) over two innings.
The two teams will conclude their six game series on Tuesday night at Desert Sun Stadium. First pitch is 7:35 p.m.
