Riders Win Ninth-Straight in Wild Walk-Off Fashion

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders walked off the San Antonio Missions 5-4 on Saturday night from Riders Field.

Entering the ninth, the Riders (31-16) held a 3-1 advantage, but San Antonio's (23-24) Allen Cordoba rammed a go-ahead three-run home run to give the Missions the lead 4-3 into the bottom of the ninth.

In the home half of the ninth, Bubba Thompson delivered a double inside the third-base bag plating Matt Whatley easily to tie the ballgame at 4-4. In the same play, Jax Biggers tripped over the second baseman Eguy Rosario while on his way to third base causing both to fall over. Biggers was thrown out at home initially, but obstruction was called and Biggers was awarded home as the game-winning run.

The Riders posted three early runs in the first inning as top prospect Josh Jung deposited a three-run homer into the left field seats, giving Frisco a 3-0 advantage.

It took until the sixth inning to plate the next run on a Rosario RBI single, giving the Missions their first run of the night.

Fernery Ozuna(3-0) got the win for the RoughRiders despite allowing the go ahead home run in the top half of the ninth inning.

Mason Fox (2-2) was tagged with the loss as he tossed 0.1 innings allowing the walk-off double by Thompson in the ninth.

Both sides are back in action for the finale of the six-game set Sunday night at 6:05 pm from Riders Field.Frisco will hand the ball to RHPA.J. Alexy(2-0, 0.74) as they look for the six-game sweep over San Antonio while the Missions will turn to LHP Osvaldo Hernandez (1-3, 5.40).
