Riders Toppled in Amarillo for Fourth-Straight Loss

AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Amarillo Sod Poodles 9-6 on Saturday night from HODGETOWN.

The Sod Poodles (47-53) took an early 1-0 lead on a first-inning RBI double from Stone Garrett.

Amarillo then increased their lead in the second with power. Dominic Miroglio lifted a two-run home run, Jancarlos Cintron blasted a solo shot and Ryder Jones followed with a two-run homer of his own to make it 6-0.

In the fourth, the Sod Poodles added another tally on an RBI groundout from Buddy Kennedy.

The RoughRiders (56-44) found the scoreboard in the fifth when Jax Biggers knocked in a run on a groundout. Bubba Thompson and Diosbel Arias helped close the gap with RBI singles, making it 7-3.

In the bottom of the inning, Amarillo volleyed back with two runs of their own on an RBI groundout from Cintron and a Ben DeLuzio RBI double.

Sam Huff then crushed his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot, in the sixth, and the Riders drew to within five, 9-4.

Biggers hit an inside-the-park home run in the seventh, his third home run of the season, and Blaine Crim added on with an RBI single, but the Riders could draw no closer than 9-6 in the defeat.

Drey Jameson (3-0) earned the win, allowing three runs over his five innings. Blake Rogers pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his eighth save of the year.

Zak Kent (0-2) was saddled with the loss, ceding six tallies over his 1.2 innings.

The RoughRiders and Sod Poodles meet for the series finale on Sunday, August 29th at 6:05 p.m. LHP Cole Ragans (1-1, 5.16) starts for Frisco against RHP Bryce Jarvis (1-1, 5.16).
