Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager Eric Tillman announced today they have signed import offensive lineman John Feugill and non-import offensive lineman Ryan Freeman to contracts. Financial terms of the signings were not disclosed.
Feugill (6'7 - 288 lbs.) started in 12 games with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2005. Prior to joining the Bombers, the Maryland product spent two seasons in Toronto where he started 31 regular season games, two playoff games, and the 2004 Grey Cup game at right tackle. Feugill also played two seasons with the NFL Europe's Barcelona Dragons and spent time on the Denver Broncos' practice roster.
"We expect to have strong competition across the board in training camp and our offensive line will be no exception," noted Tillman. "John has played for both Kenny and Mike and both coaches feel he will bring strong competition to training camp."
Freeman (6'6 - 295 lbs.) spent the past five seasons with Queen's University. In his University career, Freeman started 37 regular season games at guard and tackle. He served as a team captain in 2005 & 2006 and was named Queen's University Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2003.
"Ryan may prove to be a young Canadian who has fallen through the cracks," added Tillman. "When he was not selected in the 2006 draft he returned to Queens for an additional season where he caught Mike Gibson's eye. In doing our research we received outstanding feedback from Queen's head coach Pat Sheahan."
