B.C. Lions News Release

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import left tackle Rob Murphy has agreed to terms with the reigning Grey Cup champions. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not released. Murphy took the CFL by storm during his first campaign and was ultimately selected as the league's Most Outstanding Lineman in 2006.

"Rob demonstrated last year that he is a special player who possesses a lot of skill and even more attitude," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "Rob brings out the very best in the people around him and I'm pleased to have him back."

"I'm thrilled to be returning to the Lions", said Murphy. "It was a long process getting this done, but I am excited about the opportunity to go into battle with those guys again and win another championship for our fans."

Murphy originally joined the Lions as a free agent prior to training camp in 2006 and quickly staked a claim to the left tackle position. Murphy's reputation preceded him on the team's trips east of the Rockies and by season's end he required both wrist and knee surgery to repair the damage inflicted by opposing d-linemen. In the end, Murphy's dominating play could not be denied as he earned the aforementioned CFL Most Outstanding Lineman award as well as a West Division and CFL All-Star nod.

An official announcement is expected from the club next week.
