Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders needed twelve innings to defeat the Tulsa Drillers 3-2 Monday night from Dr Pepper Ballpark. The sweep wrapped up the longest home stand of the season for Frisco where the club finished 6-4.
Following Jose Felix's double in the 12th inning, newly acquired Jared Boldencollected his first hit as a RoughRider to score Felix from third for the walk-off win.
Winning pitcher Justin Miller worked the 11th and 12th innings and struck out all six batters he faced. Miller now has a team-leading nine wins on the season.
With a shortage of position players due to an illness to Mike Bianucci and the seventh inning ejection of Engel Beltre, Frisco pitcher Ben Snyder came in to play right field for Frisco in the late innings.
In Snyder's first at-bat of the season, the left-hander singled in the bottom of the ninth with one out to advance Jonathan Greene to third. Felix then connected on an RBI fielder's choice to score Greene and tie the game at two after nine innings.
Tulsa starter Christian Friedrich pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just one hit, while striking out seven. The right-hander took a no-hitter into the sixth inning beforeRenny Osuna's one-out single.
Willin Rosario's two-out solo shot in the fourth inning gave the Drillers an early 1-0 advantage.
The Drillers scored their second run in the seventh on a throwing error to first from catcher Elio Sarmiento.
Frisco broke through in the home half of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Jared Boldento score Jose Felix and cut Tulsa's lead in half.
'Riders' starter Robbie Ross went five and a third innings, allowing one run on four hits. The left-hander struck out five and walked one.
Right-hander Neil Ramirez (0-0, 0.00) will square off with the Naturals left-hander Chris Dwyer (6-10, 5.83) Wednesday at 7:05 p.m from Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas.
