Riders Homestand Preview: Saturday, June 11 - Saturday, June 18

June 10, 2016 - Texas League (TL1)
Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will return to Dr Pepper Ballpark Saturday to begin an eight-day, nine-game homestand against the Midland RockHounds (Oakland A's) and Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros).

The homestand begins Saturday with Vulcan Salute to Star Trek Night, honoring the 50th anniversary of the iconic, original series. The Riders will don Star Trek-inspired jerseys, as selected in a fan vote earlier this year. Fans are encouraged to put on their Spock ears or come out dressed up as their favorite character for a costume contest. Music and video clips from the various iterations of the shows and movies will be played throughout the game as well as an in-game tribute to Leonard Nimoy, the actor who originally played Spock. The ballpark will go boldly where no ballpark has gone before with LED outfield wall markers measured in light years.

On Thursday, June 16, the RoughRiders will host the Corpus Christi Hooks in a doubleheader starting at 5:05 p.m. Thursday is also the second Bark in the Park Night, presented by Muenster Pet Foods and VCA Animal Hospital. Fans and their dogs can enjoy doubleheader action from the sunny berms at Dr Pepper Ballpark, and the first 500 dogs through the gates will receive a free dog rope Frisbee (dogs are allowed at both games of the doubleheader).

Friday, June 17 is First Responders Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark, as the Riders salute local police, firefighters, and EMS. The evening also includes an appearance by special guest Erik Estrada, who played the role of police officer Frank "Ponch" Poncharello in the the '70s hit TV series CHiPs. The Riders will host a VIP Meet and Greet with Estrada from 5:45 - 6:30pm when a limited number of fans can pose for pictures, get personalized autographs, and mingle with Estrada. Tickets for this private event are available for $30 at RidersBaseball.com. A public meet and greet will also take place in the State Fairway from 7:45 to 8:45pm.

Throughout the homestand, the Riders have plenty of other deals and giveaways to get excited about, including two post-game fireworks shows, a kids replica road gray jersey t-shirt giveaway, a RoughRiders tie giveaway presented by Online Trading Academy, along with daily promotions such as Taco Tuesday, Wiener Wednesday, and Thirsty Thursday.

In addition to all the exciting theme nights and promotions, the homestand marks the first time that the nationally hyped Choctaw Lazy River will be open for RoughRiders games. Now the largest water feature in professional sports, the Choctaw Lazy River has drawn national acclaim from outlets such as ESPN, Fox Sports, and TMZ Sports. It was christened by Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki Thursday and makes its debut to the public tonight during Nowitzki's Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game.

The first Thursday Night Pool Party, where fans can float the Choctaw Lazy River, while enjoying live pre-game music and complimentary hot dogs, brats, chips, and Dr Pepper products, takes place on Thursday, June 16.
