Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have traded forward Dean Chelios to the Chicago Steel in exchange for a second round pick in the May, 2009 United States Hockey League Entry Draft, the RoughRiders announced today.

Chelios, 19, picked up one assist in five games with the RoughRiders this season. The Bloomfield, Michigan, native scored six goals and totaled 18 points in 53 games with the Riders last year.

The RoughRiders originally acquired Chelios in the eighth round of the October, 2006 USHL Futures Draft with the eighty-eighth overall pick. Dean Chelios is the son of National Hockey League great Chris Chelios of the Detroit Red Wings.

The RoughRiders (8-1-0, 16 points) are just one point behind the Indiana Ice in the race for first place overall in the USHL and are in the midst of a seven-game winning streak. The Riders hit the road this weekend to battle the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night and the Fargo Force Saturday evening. The Riders next take to the ice at home on Friday, November 14 when they meet on the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05PM.

Tickets for all RoughRiders home games- including the November 14 game- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or online at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
