Game Preview
On Friday the Des Moines Buccaneers will face of against in-state and division rivals the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena. The Black Hawks are in fourth place in the East Division with 11 points and a record of 5-3-1. Craig Smith is their leading scorer with 6 goals and 4 assists, the team has a powerplay percentage of 16.92 and a penalty kill percentage of 85.992. Goalies Parker Milner and Joe Howe are ranked 5th and 6th in the league. Milner has a 2.94 GAA and .892 save percentage while Howe has a 3.10 GAA and .892 save percentage.
The Lincoln Stars come to Buccaneer Arena Saturday night. The Stars are on top of the West Division with 13 points and a record of 6-3-1. Bret Charter leads the team with 5 goals and 6 assists, while the team itself has a powerplay percentage of 18.75 and a penalty kill percentage of 85.71. Goalie Kevin Murdock is ranked 3rd in the league with a 2.39 GAA and a save percentage of .915.

November 14th - Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Waterloo Black Hawks - KCCI Kid's Free Night!!! Kid's get in free with a paid adult. Special appearance by the Minnesota Viking Cheerleaders. There will also be a silent aucton of sports memorbilia going on throughout the game. All proceeds will be donated to Combat Hunger.
November 27th - Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Omaha Lancers - Thanksgiving night plans? Come to Buccaneer Arena for Miller Lite Buc Beer Night presented by Lazer 103.3. Draws of Miller Lite will be $1 all night long.
December 6th - Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Chicago Steel - Des Moines Register Family Fun Night!!! Four tckets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four autographs for $44. Skate with the Bucs following the game.
Week in Review
Last Friday the Bucs lost to Lincoln, 5-0. Lincoln scored two goals in both the frst and second period and added a ffh goal in the fnal period as they shut-out the Bucs. Lincoln touts one of the top goalies in the league with Kevin Murdock as he lowered his goals against average to 2.6 per game by turning away all 25 Des Moines shots. Lincoln capitalized on 4 of 7 powerplays. The Bucs failed to score on 6 powerplay opportunites of their own.
On Saturday the Bucs won in a shootout against the Indiana Ice. The frst period went scoreless, followed by Jason Bourgea of Indiana scoring. A few minutes later Alex Chiasson scored on a power play, tying the game at 1-1. Afer a scorless third period and overtme period, Buccaneers' Joe Gleason, Alex Chiasson, Chris Knowlton and Yasin Cissé all scored in the shootout. The fnal score of the game was 2-1.
Buccaneer Spotlight
Rocco Carzo, Mat White and Josh Balch are taking part in the World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta as part of the U.S. Junior Select Team. The team is being coached by Mark Carlson (CR). Coach Carlson is being assisted by Head Coach Todd Knot (SC) and Head Coach Bliss Litler (OMA). The team lost to Germany, 5-2, on Tuesday and won against Canada East, 5-3 on Wednesday. The team returns to acton November 6, when it faces Russia at 6 p.m. EST, at the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose, Alberta.
Forward Alex Chiasson has commited to Boston University. Chiasson, a natve of Quebec, made his USHL debut with the Des Moines Buccaneers this season. He played at Northwood Prep in upper New York last year. He currently has 4 goals and 4 assists in 8 games this season.
