Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Brandon Richardson scored a goal and set up three others in a 5-1 Indiana Ice win against the Waterloo Black Hawks Wednesday in Indianapolis.
The lone Black Hawk goal was scored midway through the second period when Keegan Meuer pushed in a power play rebound. That tied the score at 1-1.
Richardson set up the only goal of the first period for Joe Hartman, four-on-four, at 11:27. The other Indiana goals came in pairs at 18:03 and 18:32 of the second period, then 15:15 and 15:37 of the third.
The loss ended the Black Hawks five-game winning streak.
Waterloo hopes to regroup at home Friday against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Game time is 7:05, with Nickelodeon star Dora the Explorer in attendance, courtesy of Witham Auto Centers. WORLD JUNIOR A CHALLENGE UPDATE: USA 5, CANADA EAST 3
Craig Smith was named the United States Player of the Game with two goals Wednesday in Team USA s 5-3 win against Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta.
Smith scored the first U.S. goal on the power play to tie the game with 12 seconds remaining in the opening period. He sealed the win at 6:41 of the third period, putting in the final goal of the night.
Danny Kristo also scored twice, and Mike Cichy recorded the game-winner, all in the second period. Smith assisted on one of Kristo s goals and Nick Larson helped set up the other.
Team USA will meet Russia next in a quarterfinal game on Thursday afternoon.
