St. John's IceCaps News Release
Tues., Jan. 6
STJ 1 vs MCH 0 (OT)
Ben Walker scored the game-winner in overtime as St. John's beat the first place Manchester Monarchs at Mile One Centre. Walker's marker came at 2:58 of the extra frame on a perfect stretch pass from JC Lipon, who sprung the rookie forward on a partial breakaway. Walker made no mistake in snapping a wrister past Monarchs goaltender Patrik Bartosak for his first pro goal. Connor Hellebuyck stopped all 33 shots he faced for his third shutout and 14th win of the season just hours after being named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team.
Wed., Jan. 7
STJ 3 vs MCH 2
The IceCaps extended their winning streak to three games as they topped the Monarchs for the second consecutive night at Mile One Centre. Austen Brassard, Nicholas Blanchard and Chase Balisy each tallied for St. John's. Connor Hellebuyck finished the game with 35 saves to earn the win.
Sat., Jan. 10
LHV 4 vs STJ 2
Former IceCaps MVP Andrew Gordon played the role of spoiler as he scored the game-winning goal in the dying minutes of the game to give the Lehigh Valley Phantoms the win. Blair Riley and Kyle MacKinnon replied for the IceCaps, who saw their winning streak halted at three games. Connor Hellebuyck had yet another strong game between the pipes for the IceCaps finishing with 24 saves.
Sun., Jan.11
LHV 6 vs STJ 2
The Phantoms scored early and often en route to a lopsided victory over the IceCaps at Mile One Centre. Nicolas Blanchard scored both IceCaps' goals. Starter Peter Budaj allowed three goals on nine shots in the first period and was replaced by Connor Hellebuyck.
