
Rickey Henderson Heads Up Bears Blood Drive on June 30

NEWARK, NJ, June 25-The Newark Bears baseball team, in conjunction with the Blood Center of New Jersey, will be holding a Blood Drive on Monday June 30th at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in downtown Newark between 5PM and 8 PM. Bears outfielder Rickey Henderson, a future baseball Hall-of-Famer, will meet and greet all donors between 5 PM and 6 PM, along with teammates Mike Piercy and Al Hawkins.
The Blood Mobile will set up outside the Main Entrance of Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium at Gate C. Everyone who donates blood will receive free cholesterol screening and a free t-shirt, along with the chance to meet a true baseball legend in Henderson.
"We feel, as an organization, that it is extremely important that we do our part in keeping the blood banks in New Jersey at or near capacity level," said Bears Vice-President and General Manager Chris Bryan. "The fact that Rickey and his teammates have decided to support this worthy cause makes us very proud to have them as members of the Bears family."
That night, Monday June the 30th, the Bears will host the Pennsylvania Road Warriors in Atlantic League action beginning at 7:05 PM.
