
Newark Bears to Visit Children's Specialized Hospital

NEWARK, NJ, June 26, 2003 - Members of the Newark Bears baseball team will be making an appearance at the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside on Monday, June 30, beginning at 10 AM.
Bears representatives slated to visit the hospital include Manager, and former Major League Batting Champion, Bill Madlock and outfielder Mike Piercy. 100 patients are expected to be present. Children will be given foam bear claws on behalf of the Newark Bears, as well as t-shirts donated by Bederson & Company, Certified Public Accountants.
"The event provides an opportunity for patients to see and interact with Bears players, who might not otherwise be able to get to the ballpark," said Chris Bryan, Vice President and General Manager of the Newark Bears Baseball Club.
Children's Specialized Hospital, an affiliate member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System, is the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States. The hospital provides specialized care for children with chronic illnesses as well as evaluation and treatment for common childhood developmental concerns. Children's treats infants, children, and young adults at 10 sites throughout New Jersey including inpatient hospitals in Mountainside and Toms River.
That night, Monday June the 30th, the Bears will host the Pennsylvania Road Warriors in Atlantic League action beginning at 7:05 PM.
