Richmond Takes Two of Three

Richmond, Indiana - Richmond walked off with a win Sunday night by beating the Evansville Otters 8-6. The teams battled back and forth, but the Roosters had the final say taking the last two games of the series.

Richmond started quickly with two runs in the first inning. Mike Reese led off the game with a double to right-center field and later scored on a fielder's choice. Kylie Vaughn scored on a RBI single by Joe Rhomberg net the other run.

The Otters pushed three runs across in the top of the third but Richmond came right back with two more in the bottom half. Josh Hollingsworth lined a ball over the left field fence for his 13th homer of the year and Justus Kimbrough hit a RBI single to left to retake the lead at 4-3. Evansville scored three runs again in the seventh but Richmond came back again with another pair of runs. Kevin White and Josh Hollingsworth both scored to tie the game at 6-6. That was the score in the bottom of the ninth when Tony Sanguinetti blasted an opposite field, two-run, walk-off homer that gave Richmond the win. Hunter Davis (1-0) got the win while Nathan Stone (0-1) was stuck with the loss.

The Roosters will begin a series in Chillicothe, Ohio against the Paints. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (Indiana time) as Jared Howton (2-2, 5.30 ERA) will face Justin Munoz (2-1, 5.25 ERA) of Chillicothe.
