Rockford RiverHawks News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Following Rockford's 11-9 victory in Windy City Sunday night, the RiverHawks announced a five-player trade with the ThunderBolts that features two All-Stars.
The âHawks sent All-Star centerfielder Doug Scutt, catcher Mike Lynch, and right-handed pitcher Wes Mindingall to the âBolts in exchange for All-Star outfielder Nick Johnson and outfielder Jerome McCoy.
Schutt played in all but one game as Rockford's leadoff hitter this season. He's batting .316 with four home runs and 20 RBI. The Arizona resident has a .388 on-base percentage with 40 runs scored and 19 stolen bases, third most in the Frontier League.
Lynch returns to Windy City after starting the year with the âBolts. He was traded to the âHawks on June 6 and hit .277 with Rockford. Mindingall has made just two starts and five appearances overall because of a stint on the DL. He was 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA in 15 innings with the RiverHawks.
Nick Johnson has started all 48 games in right field this season for the âBolts and has not committed an error. The All-Star had a .312 average with seven home runs and 31 RBI in Crestwood.
McCoy was in his second season with the âBolts and was hitting .276 with no home runs and 11 RBI before the trade. He is tied for first in the league with 22 stolen bases in 22 attempts.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 964-BALL. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
