
Richard Park Joins Wild Staff, Bickel Assigned to Iowa

Cedar Park, TX - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Tuesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Richard Park as a Player Development Coach for the organization. Park's primary responsibilities will include working with and assisting in the development of players with the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL). He will begin his new role with the Wild organization this week. Fletcher also announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned Stu Bickel to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Park, 38 (5/27/76), recorded 241 points (102-139241) and 266 penalty minutes (PIM) in 738 career NHL games during 14 seasons with Pittsburgh, Anaheim, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Vancouver and the New York Islanders. The forward skated in 40 career NHL playoff games, including 18 with the Wild in 2002-03 when the team advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The native of Seoul, South Korea, tallied 74 points (37-3774) in 217 games during three seasons with Minnesota (2001-04).
Park retired as a player after spending the last two seasons playing for Ambri-Piotta in Switzerland (2012-14). He was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the second round (50th overall) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
Bickel, 28 (10/2/86), collected eight points (1-78) and 85 penalty minutes (PIM) in 24 games with the Harford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2013-14. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound native of Chanhassen, Minn., appeared in 67 games with the New York Rangers from 2011-13 and recorded nine assists and 157 PIM. He also skated in 18 playoff games with the Rangers in 2011-12. Bickel played one season at the University of Minnesota in 2007-08 and notched seven points (1-67) and 92 PIM. He was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 1, 2014.
The Wild begins a four-game home stand with opening weekend on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct 18 at 7 p.m. against the Milwaukee Admirals. The first 5,000 fans to Friday's game will receive a 2014-15 Magnetic Schedule, compliments of Hicklin Garage Doors. Fans may also enjoy a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. On Saturday, the team celebrates Local Heroes Night and the first 5,000 fans will be handed an Iowa Wild 2014-15 poster schedule. The annual Guns-N-Hoses game takes place on Saturday, Oct. 18 with games at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. The following weekend, Iowa welcomes the Charlotte Checkers for a two-game set at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday Oct. 25. Friday the 24th is College Night, featuring $2 beers, presented by the 100.3 The Bus. Saturday night is Youth Sports Night, where the first 1,500 youths (12 and under) receives a White Iowa Wild home jersey, compliments of NASH FM.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
