AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas rookie Jonathan Reynoso went 4-4 with a grand slam, a triple, four RBI and three runs scored in the Dillas huge offensive effort, 18-13 over the Laredo Broncos on Sunday night in front of 7,081 fans at the Amarillo National Dilla Villa.
Matt Lawrence (1-0) got his first professional win as he went an out past two innings, allowed two earned runs and two hits while striking out one. After an Ashton RBI double in the third, Figueroa hit home Jordan Ramos and Wenger with a three-run homer to put Amarillo up by seven, but Laredo would comeback off Dillas starter Kyle Allen with five runs and six hits in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 7-5.
The Dillas responded in the fifth with five runs of their own off five hits to take a 12-5 lead. The Broncos would respond with three runs in the sixth to cut the lead to four.
In the seventh, Ashton hit in Schneidmiller for one run while Reynoso came up with the bases loaded and two outs. With a 2-2 count, the rookie hit a high fly to left field which squeaked over the wall for a grand slam homerun, which moved the Dillas up 17-9.
After the Broncos scored another five runs in the eighth, Amarillo came back with a run of their own as Danny Bravo doubled to left field to score Wenger for an 18-13 lead.
Waters finished off the side in the ninth to give the Dillas a five-run victory.
