New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - With eight games remaining in the regular season and all 14 teams in Major League Soccer making a final push for the playoffs, the New England Revolution (11-6-5, 38 pts.) will visit the Columbus Crew (12-6-4, 40 pts.) in a crucial Eastern Conference tilt on Saturday night at Crew Stadium in a contest that brings together the top two teams in the MLS standings. TV38 (and Cox3 in Rhode Island) will televise the game live beginning at 7:30 p.m., while HDNet will carry the game nationally in high definition. Radio listeners can catch the action on the WEEI Radio Network
The Revs had occupied at least a share of the top spot in the league for 13 of the last 14 weeks after jumping into first place on May 24 - coincidentally with a 1-0 win over Columbus at Crew Stadium - but were leapfrogged by the Crew last weekend, as New England drew, 2-2, with the LA Galaxy, and Columbus defeated FC Dallas, 2-1, at Pizza Hut Park.
Saturday night's match is the second of three meetings between the Revs and Crew this season, and the second and final showdown at Crew Stadium. The season series will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 27, when Columbus visits Foxborough for the only time in the 2008 regular season.
Recent years have seen the Revolution enjoy its trips to Ohio, as the club is 4-2-6 in its last 12 matches in Columbus dating back to 2002.
