Revs Stagger Into Off Day With Third Straight Loss

Completing a stretch of 26 games in the last 24 days, the York Revolution offense was frustrated again, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Sugar Land Skeeters on Monday evening at Santander Stadium. After winning the first game of the series to tie a season-high at eight games above .500, the Revs dropped the final three, and will look to regroup when they open a six-game home-and-home series with the Camden Riversharks in South Jersey on Wednesday night.
Revs starter Jorge Martinez retired the first eight batters he faced and escaped a two-out bases loaded jam in the third to keep things scoreless early. The Skeeters would get to him for an unearned run in the fourth on a sac fly to center by Michael Rockett, grabbing a 1-0 lead. It was the only run allowed by Martinez (2-1) who gave up just four hits in five innings, working on only three days' rest.
Sugar Land connected on back-to-back home runs for the second time in as many days as Rockett went deep to left-center and Taylor Harbin followed with a line drive down the left field line with two outs in the sixth, increasing the Skeeters lead to 3-0.
York got on the board in the bottom of the sixth on a sac fly to right by Salvador Paniagua, but that was all the Revs could scratch out offensively.
The Skeeters tacked on two more in the top of the seventh, scoring runs on an infield single by Domonic Ramos and a groundout by Rockett who drove in three total runs on the night.
Skeeters starter Steve Hammond (3-5) picked up the win with five scoreless innings despite walking four batters. He allowed only four hits.
Notes: The Revs suffer their first series loss at home since May 9-11 when they dropped two of three to Southern Maryland. The three-game losing streak ties their longest of the season at home; it is their first such home streak since April 29-May 7. The Revs had won eight of their previous nine home games before dropping the last three. York concludes its stretch of 26 games in 24 days with a 15-11 record, and also finishes a stretch of 29 games in 28 days with a 17-12 mark. Martinez has allowed just two runs (one earned) in 10.2 innings over his last two starts. Revs reliever Julio DePaula tallied 1.2 scoreless innings late in the game, and has allowed just 1 run in 13.2 innings over his last 14 appearances. Fellow reliever Rommie Lewis fired a perfect ninth for his 11th consecutive scoreless outing, a Revs' season-best. He also owns a current 11.2-inning scoreless streak, also a season-best by a Revs pitcher. The Revs have scored just 12 runs in their last six games. York begins a stretch on Wednesday where 11 of its next 14 games will be played on the road.
