York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution were swarmed by a potent attack from the Sugar Land Skeeters early in Thursday night's contest, dropping the rubber match of their series, 11-4 at Santander Stadium. The Revs have dropped back-to-back games, and will look to rebound as they welcome the Long Island Ducks to town for the final regular season home series of the year beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Sugar Land built a massive 11-0 lead over the first three innings, one from which the Revs could not recover. The Skeeters plated a first inning run on a sacrifice fly to deep center by Dominic Ramos, before scoring seven times in the second inning, tying the biggest inning allowed by the Revs this season. Todd Jennings launched a two-run homer to left-center to start the second inning outburst. With one out, the Skeeters rallied for seven consecutive hits, burying the Revs in the early hole. The Skeeters received RBI singles from Delwyn Young and Ryan Langerhans, followed by RBI doubles from Ramos and Rene Tosoni. The final run of the mammoth outburst scored on a defensive error after a base hit by Michael Rockett, the Skeeters' ninth hit of the inning.

Sugar Land wasn't finished, plating three more in the third thanks to a two-run double to right-center by Langerhans, followed by an RBI double to right-center by Ramos.

Down 11-0, the Revs had already allowed a season-high-tying total for runs in a game, but York pitchers allowed no runs on just three singles over the final six innings of the contests.

Offensively, the Revs got on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Sean Smith, before scoring three times in the fifth on RBI singles by Wilson Valdez and Eric Patterson, and a sac fly from Chad Tracy. The RBI for Tracy was his 93rd of the season, adding to his league-lead, now with seven RBI through three games on the homestand.

Sugar Land starter David Pauley (13-6) earned the win despite allowing four runs on nine hits over five innings. It marked just the fourth time in 22 starts that the league's ERA leader has allowed more than three earned runs, with his earned run average climbing from 2.34 to 2.52. Four Sugar Land relievers worked scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep the Revs at a distance.

York starter Scott Gorgen (6-10) suffered the loss, charged with eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 1.2 innings, the shortest start by a Revs pitcher this season. It marked only the third time in the last 11 starts that Gorgen has allowed more than three runs.

Notes: York falls to 5-9 against Sugar Land this season, and will face the Skeeters six more times to close the regular season in Texas next week. Revs leadoff man Justin Greene went 1-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 15 consecutive games. Valdez stole his league-leading 52nd base of the season in the third inning. Smith went 3-for-4, and is now batting .322 over his last 45 games. York lefty Alain Quijano (10-9, 4.51) will face Long Island right-hander John Brownell (13-8, 3.73) in Friday's series opener. It is Girl's Night Out presented by the Center for Cosmetic Dermatology. Tickets are on-sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
