Revs Fall Victim to Ducks' Hot Bats, Drop Second Straight
May 2, 2017 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release
After winning four consecutive games, the York Revolution dropped their second straight, 8-2 to the Long Island Ducks on Tuesday evening at PeoplesBank Park.
Ducks leadoff man Fehlandt Lentini was a thorn in the Revs' side all night, slapping the ball around the field for a 3-for-6 performance with two stolen bases and four runs scored, and flashing his leather for two sprawling catches in right field.
Lentini was the catalyst as Long Island plated two runs each in the first, second, and sixth, and added single runs in the third and fourth for the victory. Lentini and Delta Cleary Jr., the top two batters in the Ducks lineup combined to reach base seven times, and accounted for seven of the eight Long Island runs scored.
After two great starts to begin the season, Frank Gailey (2-1) battled to last four innings, allowing six runs, four of those earned, on nine hits, but did strike out five to tie his season high.
On the other side, Rafael Perez (1-0) looked sharp for Long Island, earning the victory by going seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four.
The Revs did get to Perez in the second for two runs. Luis Alen led off the inning with a walk and was followed up by a Bryan Pounds single, to extend his hitting streak to six consecutive games. Ryan Dent followed with a sacrifice fly and Derrick Robinson came through with an RBI single, which at the time cut the deficit to 4-2. Robinson had two hits on the evening, his first multi-hit game as a Rev.
The Revs will close out the opening homestand on Wednesday against the Ducks with a day-night doubleheader, with the morning game slated for an 11 a.m. first pitch, before the teams meet back up for the nightcap at 6:30 p.m. Curtis Partch will make his first start of the season for York in the early game, with Steve Janas making his third start of the season for York in game two.
The day game will be the first Baseball in Education game of the season, with the PeoplesBank Park concourse filled with Reptile Wonders, Ryan "The BugMan," Party Animalz Petting Zoo, and more as the Revs welcome area school groups for a day of learning at the ballpark. The nightcap is Twins Night, as fans are encouraged to bring a friend dressed just like themselves. The night game is also a PeoplesBank Kids Eat Free Wednesday. Darrell Henry and Matt Present will be on the air at 11 a.m. for game one, and 6:10 p.m. for game two on SportsRadio 1350 WOYK, woyk1350.com, YorkRevsTV.com, and on the WOYK app.
Notes: Bryan Pounds singled in the 2nd to extend his hitting streak to six, the longest of the season for a York batter... Seven of the Revs nine batters reached base... the Revs were charged with two errors after going three consecutive games without committing a defensive miscue... Joe Van Meter and Chase Huchingson worked their fourth scoreless appearances and Luke Westphal tossed his fifth scoreless appearance to begin the season out of the Revolution bullpen. The Revs (5-6) fall half a game back of Lancaster and Southern Maryland in the Freedom Division standings.
