York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution were edged by the Sugar Land Skeeters 3-2 in Sunday's regular season finale, in front of 6,369 fans at Constellation Field. The Revs conclude the regular season with a 78-62 record, just one win short of tying a club record for wins in a season, while Sugar Land secures a second half division title, becoming the Revs' opponent in the Freedom Division Championship Series this week. Game One is set for Tuesday night in Sugar Land beginning at 8:05 p.m. ET.

It was a frustrating day for the York offense from the start. Skeeters starter Dan Meadows began the game with eight consecutive balls, walking the first two hitters before allowing a bunt single to Johan Limonta, loading the bases with no outs. Meadows then went the distance with cleanup hitter Chad Tracy before ending a ten-pitch at-bat with a key strikeout, and then recorded a double play grounder to wiggle out of the jam unharmed.

The Revs again quickly put pressure on Meadows in the second, as three consecutive singles from Angel Flores, Omar Luna, and Salvador Paniagua (RBI) produced the game's first run before an out was recorded, but Meadows would settle down and retire the next three batters, surrendering only one run.

Sugar Land took the lead in the bottom of the third. With a seemingly harmless two-out situation and a runner at first, things went awry for the Revs. Adam Godwin bounced a single into left to extend the inning, and both runners took an extra base on an error. A balk would bring home Michael Rockett with the first run, and Ryan Langerhans added an infield single to plate Godwin, giving the Skeeters a 2-1 lead.

Johan Limonta blooped an RBI single into left, tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth and ending the afternoon for Meadows, but the Revs were only able to total two runs against the lefty despite five hits and five walks. Reliever Ramon Delgado entered to record a pair of groundouts including a fielder's choice at the plate for the second out, preventing York from going in front.

Sugar Land retook the lead in its half of the fifth. Bridger Hunt led off the inning with a single to left out of the ninth spot in the order, and Godwin laid down a bunt that was mishandled by Revs pitcher Logan Williamson putting the first two on. A passed ball advanced both runners, and with one out, Delwyn Young lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, lifting the Skeeters ahead with the eventual winning margin at 3-2.

Neither bullpen allowed a run, as Skeeters closer Brian Broderick finished it with his 11th save in the ninth.

Williamson (6-7) suffered the loss, despite all three runs charged as unearned in five innings. He finishes the regular season with a 2.72 ERA, one point above the Revs' single season record of 2.71 set by Ryan Feierabend in 2012.

Notes: Not in Sunday's lineup, Justin Greene finishes the regular season with a .358 batting average and a .423 on-base percentage, becoming the first in Revs history to lead the league in either category; his average finishes fourth-highest in a season in league history. Tracy was held without an RBI, but finishes as the league's RBI champion with 97 on the season, becoming the second in Revs history to accomplish the feat, joining Chris Nowak (2012). Wilson Valdez finishes the season as the league's stolen base king with 55 on the year, another first for a Revs player. The Revs finish the regular season just 7-13 against Sugar Land, their worst record of the season against any opponent, after dropping four of the final five in the six-game series in Texas where they concluded their regular season for the third consecutive year. The Revs played nine of their final 12 regular season games against the Skeeters, and will now square off with Sugar Land in postseason play for the first time. Tuesday's opener is set for 8:05 p.m. ET. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 7:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call. Game Two of the series will be played on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET, before the best-of-five series shifts to York on Friday night.
