Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(Sugar Land, T.X., September 21, 2014) - The Sugar Land Skeeters overcame the York Revolution 3-2 Sunday afternoon to clinch the second half Freedom Division title. The team will take on York again in the first round of playoffs, which begins Tuesday.
Dan Meadows started on the mound for the Skeeters and pitched 4.1 innings. The left-hander allowed two runs on six hits and collected three strikeouts, earning the win.
Down by one in the bottom of the third, Michael Rockett hit a leadoff single to the shortstop. Adam Godwin singled and then both runners advanced on an error by the left fielder. York's starter Logan Williamson balked to score Rockett from third and advance Godwin. Ryan Langerhans hit a single, and Godwin was able to score.
In the bottom of the fifth, Bridger Hunt singled and then went on to second as Godwin advanced to first on an error by the first baseman. Hunt made it to third on a passed ball and then scored the final run after a sacrifice fly by Delwyn Young.
The bullpen took over for Meadows in the fifth inning and kept the Revolution at two runs over a combined 4.2 innings. Brian Broderick collected his 11th save after pitching a scoreless ninth.
