Revs Eager to Correct Mistakes

New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Last weekend's loss to the Montreal Impact - a result which snapped both a five-game winning streak and seven-game unbeaten run - has the New England Revolution champing at the bit ahead of Sunday's meeting with the New York Red Bulls.

It had been almost two months since the Revs last tasted defeat and the lingering unpleasant flavor has everyone eager to get back on the field for a chance to correct the mistakes made in Montreal.

"I think we want to get back after it," said Andrew Farrell. "I think a lot of the guys didn't want to take any days off - they wanted to get back after it, work hard and have Sunday come along against a really good New York team."

The Revs are thankful for the opportunity to play another game in short order, but they know that's a luxury they won't be afforded should they suffer another loss this weekend. An extended, league-wide break during the group stage of the FIFA World Cup will commence after this round of matches, meaning Sunday's result will send the Revs into a 20-day hiatus from league play.

"You can't turn back around that next week and make up for it (if you lose), so for us it's obviously one that's going to stick in our mind for a while," said Kelyn Rowe. "You have two weeks off after, so put it all on the line, wear your heart on your sleeve and go out and play."

After spending the early part of this week recovering physically, the Revs will take the next few days to prepare specifically for the Red Bulls, who feature MLS leading scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips. New York has struggled in recent weeks, but still boasts the second-highest scoring offense in the Eastern Conference behind the Revolution.

For the Revs to get back on track and continue their dominant home form - 4-0-1 at Gillette Stadium this season - they'll need to take the lessons learned from last weekend's loss at Stade Saputo and apply them for the full 90 minutes.

"Playing at home, it's going to be our last game before a big break, so we really want to end it on a high note and get all three points," said Teal Bunbury. "We're playing a great team and another Eastern Conference team, so we know that they're going to bring it. We have to be prepared for them and try to just be sharp."
