June 4, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew (4-5-4, 16 points) continues a stretch of three matches in eight days with a home clash against Real Salt Lake (6-1-6, 24 points) at Crew Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is televising the game, with Dwight Burgess, Chris Doran and Ashleigh Ignelzi on the call. Neil Sika and John Bluem are set to describe the action for 95.5 The Game, with Carlos Cordova and Juan Valladares behind the microphone for La Mega 103.1 FM.
Supporters can join the Black & Gold midweek for $2 hot dogs and $4 souvenir draft beers from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. ET in the Crew Plaza for an After Work Happy Hour with the Crew.
The tilt is the lone meeting this year between the clubs in opposite conferences. Real Salt Lake defeated Columbus by a score of 4-0 on August 24, 2013. Tonight is the 17th regular-season battle all-time dating back to 2005. Columbus leads the all-time series with a record of 10-5-1 in regular-season action. The Crew is 3-4-1 all-time when traveling to Real Salt Lake and is 7-1-0 when hosting the Utah side.
The Crew has Designated Player Federico Higuain available for selection after the Argentine served a one-match suspension for yellow-card accumulation. Higuain leads the Crew in goals (six) and assists (five) this season and posted two goals and three assists in the month of May. The Black & Gold have recorded multiple-goal matches as a club in each of the last three contests dating back to May 17 at Portland. Midfielder Ethan Finlay has helped that cause with a goal or an assist in each match in that span.
