Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

YORK, PA . - All nine batters collected at least one hit for the York Revolution as they cruised to a series-opening victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs by the final score of 9-2. The 16 hits allowed by the Blue Crabs ties for the most given up this season.

Jorge Martinez (4-2) went the first five innings unblemished for the victory while Brad Meyers (0-1) suffered the loss allowing five runs in 2.1 innings. Southern Maryland has now dropped six straight series openers.

The scoring started right away for the Revs with two runs in the first. The first three batters reached base in front of a sacrifice fly by Chad Tracy and an RBI groundout by Johan Limonta. Tracy's solo home run jumpstarted a three-run spurt in the 3rd. The home run was followed later on by back-to-back run-scoring hits by Ofilio Castro and Travis Garcia to make it 5-0.

York hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 5th. Garcia's solo shot was his eighth of the season while Salvador Paniagua's was his fifth.

Southern Maryland ended the shutout in the 7th inning thanks to an RBI single by James Skelton. The Revolution responded in kind in the bottom half of the inning though with another multi-run inning. Garcia earned his third RBI of the night with an RBI double and Sean Smith came up with a two-out, RBI single for his first hit of the night.

The Blue Crabs continue their road trip tomorrow night in York against the Revolution at 6:35. Southern Maryland returns home on July 4 for a special 6:35 first pitch against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Purchase tickets for the game by visiting www.somdbluecrabs.com or calling 301-638-9788.
